Anima Noir
The new album is a few months after the release so it is a time to write something about it. I wish to start the conversation about what and why You do like on this album or You don't. It was a long time of waiting for this CD (3 years). It has been waking up the anxiety of what it will bring to us. The tracks that showed up as an announce of "Anima Noir" has been loved from the first listening by ones and not liked by anothers. For those who prefers T.d.V. from the 90's, this album might sounds as a total lame. There are also ones who will be delighted by the music and will be listening it on and on. One thing is indisputable... Sonya showed once again that no-one compares to her. Despite the platitude of this sentence, there's no other like her in the world. She's brilliant when she sings the classical/opera vocals and she's brilliant when she sings the low, full of apathy "sad-singings"... The guitars on the whole album sounds OK, there is a nice tempo, there is a dynamic power, there is a good "rumbling". Yes... but what can I say about the keyboards? Something that always made T.d.V. so obscure, so vampiric as it has to be in regard to the band's name. During the process of evolving, chasing the style, they has gone walkabout, but this is just my opinion. This is not T.d.V. that delighted me. But there is one thing that connects this album with what was the best of T.d.V. It's good to listening whole "Anima Noir" to get to "Anima Noir'! Quite short, too short (!), but being the essence of T.d.V. Completely different than the rest of the tracks. Concluding that wherever they will go, whatever they will play... somewhere deep inside of them there is still the atmosphere of the past, that was their strength and made so called vampiric metal style.
Oh... there is one more shining moment... the piano in "Unspoken Words", it really covers with the bloody veil all the keybords I don't like and makes them not so important.
This is my opinion. And what is Yours?
