Theatres des Vampires, where are You going to?

1996 - the first longplay of T.d.V. has been released. Almost all work was done by Alexander who wasn't discouraged that he was left alone as a one-man-band.
1999 - the second album has been released and Roberth, Fabian and Justine had participated in recording.
2001 - was a year which brought two new records and Sonya has appeared in the line-up. The band gains a new quality.
2002 - album without Justine but with Sonya as a female vocal has been released.
2003 - the band has returned to the roots by re-edition of the album from 1996 enriched by the Sonya's presence and a better production.
2004 - the band invites to the journey through the Kingdom of Macabria.
2005 - the album reveals an important change, Alexander, a founder of T.d.V. leaves the band and from then Sonya is the only vocal of Theatres des Vampires. She performs brilliant in her role supported by the guest male vocals.
2006 - an end of the year brings another shocking news, Roberth has left the band. Someone who was in the line-up almost from the beginning, one of those who contributed to everything what Theatres des Vampires is today. In the beginning of the year 2007 we will hear a guitar of the new musician on the upcoming album.

As I wrote in the title... Where the band are going to...? Two of those who had created its power are not present in the line-up. There is only Fabian who seems to be a leader now (it is normal, he has the longest experience in the band), however Sonya is a frontwoman. Last days of 2006 brings a question... who will be the next? Let's hope that no-one. Style of the music evolves too. Starting from the harsh black metal atmosphere, through the gothic, vampiric theatrical acts towards the electro-gothic... (?) Is it the right way or not? Or maybe there's some other ways before them?

Nuit you know what? Sometimes you write the sentence and the only thing to do with is to agree and to be delighted by the sense, true and uncomplicated thought. Just put the sentence on the flag and go to war. I mean "The band gains a new quality" after the information that Sonya has joined the band.
In my opinion Alexander's leave was the beginning of the end for the really great band. An idea to resign from the wheezing male vocal in the music of Theatres deprived this music of something which has been forming it from the beginning. It was the essence of Theatres, it was the essence of the style called vampiric metal. Two voices, male and female mixed and talking each other. Guesting vocals are not the same.
What a news, Roberth has left... What a pity he did, the most attractive man in the band. Maybe he had ran away from the sinking... etc.
In my opinion an outline of the progress of T.d.V.'s music presented by you is an other version of "from hero to zero". They had created their own style, a new genre of metal music. Now they inclines to electro and they wants to do the same what the thousands do. It's sad, sad and nothing more.

Kriss, if those sentences will be connected with the motto "Vexilla regis, proundet inferni" then I will strike some more sentences with pure pleasure Wink

I am full of respect for Justine so I won't allow anybody to say anything bad about her voice. However I think that Sonya brought something more, not just her voice, when she has joined the band.
That's truth, after Alexander's leave the character of the band has changed. But we can see a change on "Nightbreed of Macabria" if we compare it to the previous albums. For me the kind of expression like growl is valuable, it gives to the music a lot of character. Indeed, without this expression something has gone, something which is hard to define, but lack of this is very visible.

Nuit no matter what is the idea, a good motto leads the millions and they are ready to die for it. Justine has done a good job with Theatres. I like Lilith Mater Inferorum's video, it's better than Angel of Lust's video. Not only becasue of her, but she looks great in this video. But Sonya looks great too in both of them.
In my opinion metal without a weezing male vocal is less expressive, less sharp. It's difficult to imagine black metal or vampiric metal or even harder gothic without this element.

I prefere the gothic of Theatres Des Vampires than the black of them, but I like the old songs. That's very sad to see that Roberth has left the band. I'm affraid if they gonna make it without him. I heard two new songs and I like them but they are a little bit different. Only Sonya's voice connects the new with the previous. I like new songs but I don't like electro and I would be very unhappy if they will change their music to electro. I hope they will not. "Pleasure and pain" is a good music and they should to keep this style. I miss Alexander too. I prefere the songs with two vocals it's always better if there are two vocalists in the band than one of them is just a guest. Maybe someday someone will join Theatres Des Vampires. Maybe Alexander will return? But I'm affraid that's impossilbe. He makes so different music than TdV right now.

I think the new TDV is better scarlet is a stronger more confident singer and is so much fun.I heard that alexander made fun of his fans but scarlet really respects them and i think even stephan is refreshing he has made the music much heavier and his vocals on blood addiction are amazing.I love the way the band seem much happier.Dont get me wrong I love the old music but new TDV for me is the best its ever been and i can tell its going to get even better.The songs.vocals.lyrics,everything.The band never fail to impress me

We have to precise in what they are better. In my opinion it doesn't make sense to compare the old and the new T.d.V. The music is completely different. In 90's they were a metal band, now they are an electro rock band. I'm afraid T.d.V. has lost many fans because of their new style. But they also gained new ones. It depends of what You like. I am not an electro fan, I love the carnage. The new sound of T.d.V. is a sign of present days. I am living still in the 90's hahaha And I think it was the best time of metal music. Yeah... but T.d.V. is not a metal band anymore... on my taste. Anyway, Blood_addiction, You are the best example of that, they are going the right path.

hehe well i love the old style with alexander but i dont think as a person he is a great role model for people because he was said to be a very rude and ignorant person. But i also love new TDV i guess its because they are my obsession that no matter what style of music they do i will love them but for me scarlet just makes the band fun and the music now makes me happier because it has more meaning to it i guess but that is my opinion hehe

Well, Blood_addiction, Your opinion is true Wink

If the music makes You happier, all the bad things I can say about this music are worthless. I do not care a lot about what the musicians says if they makes a good music which impress me. Maybe this is strange, but I really do. The only thing that I am interesting with is music. Of course it's nice if the musician is kind and then his fans loves him even more. But this is not the most important thing for me. If the music is good, I don't care about the rest. I prefer true aversion than false amicability. It's so great to read about Your obsessive passion.
